A MULTI-USE ALTERNATIVE PUMP CAPABLE OF OPERATING IN ANY SITUATION
How Tarua® works: pump technical data sheet overview
The Tarua ® reciprocating positive displacement pump operates on a double-acting membrane principle. A flexible membrane — the “lung” — is enclosed within a cylindrical body sealed by two gooseneck valves. Vacuum is generated by alternately compressing and expanding the membrane through a service liquid cycle, creating continuous suction without filters, shredders or mechanical obstruction. The result is an uninterrupted transfer path from suction to discharge.
Full-passage design: key technical specification of Tarua ®
The key technical specification that distinguishes Tarua ® from conventional positive displacement pumps is its full-passage design. Unlike centrifugal and standard positive displacement pumps — which are constrained by impeller or valve diameter — the Tarua ® pump body allows everything that enters the suction port to pass through without obstruction. No shredder, no grate and no filter is required upstream of the pump. This makes Tarua ® the correct technical choice for transferring coarse materials in liquid phase — rags, gloves, zip ties, bolts, stones — as well as delicate materials that must reach the discharge point intact and undamaged.
Tarua® pump applications: what the technical data sheet covers
According to the Tarua ® pump technical data sheet, the pump handles continuous transfer of inhomogeneous materials across a wide range of industrial and environmental applications:
— extreme situations caused by natural disasters and flooding
— shipyards and construction sites requiring water, sand and debris removal
— dredging and maintenance operations including industrial tank cleaning and sump cleaning
— pumping solutions containing abrasive and heavy solids such as in ceramic processing, mining
and marine applications
— sewage and industrial sludge pumping
— process industry applications where transferred materials must not be subjected to mechanical stress — including food produce such as tomatoes, olives and fruit
Tarua® pump technical data sheet:
what the specifications mean in practice
The Tarua ® pump technical data sheet summarises the key performance parameters that define its operational capability. Understanding what these specifications mean in real field conditions helps engineers and procurement teams evaluate whether Tarua ® is the right solution for their application.
This section complements the downloadable data sheet by providing context for each specification — explaining not just what Tarua ® does, but why its technical design choices translate into measurable operational advantages over conventional industrial pump solutions. For procurement teams and plant engineers comparing pump technologies, these distinctions are critical: a pump that handles any solid without clogging, operates dry without damage and requires no external priming represents a fundamentally different maintenance and operational profile from standard alternatives.
Suction capacity up to 950 mbar means Tarua ® generates near-total vacuum independently — no external vacuum source required, no priming procedure, no dependence on liquid level at the suction point. This makes it genuinely self-priming across the full range of industrial and environmental applications covered in the data sheet.
Full-passage up to 80 mm means the pump body imposes no restriction on solid particle size up to the suction port diameter. Sand, stones, rags, organic residues and fibrous materials pass through without obstruction — eliminating the clogging risk that affects conventional positive displacement and centrifugal pumps.
Dry-running capability means Tarua ® can operate safely even when liquid flow is interrupted — a critical advantage in unpredictable field conditions where liquid supply may not be continuous.
